Gian Piero Gasperini felt Atalanta “went close to a winner” against Fiorentina and is looking forward to Borussia Dortmund.
Andrea Petagna got his first Serie A goal since September, cancelling out the Milan Badelj opener in Bergamo for a 1-1 draw.
“It was a good game against a strong opponent. We struggled at the start, as Fiorentina were pushing hard and we took a while to find the right shape,” Gasp told Sky Sport Italia.
“After that, we went close to getting the winner.”
There was some squad rotation just three days after the 3-2 Europa League thriller away to Borussia Dortmund.
“We know that Borussia are a very strong side and can score goals at any moment. We’ll have to bring out a perfect performance. There’s a wonderful atmosphere around us, half the city travels to the Mapei Stadium to watch us in Europe.
“Qualifying for the next phase would be a fantastic result.”
